The Story Behind HypnoGirl
When I started HypnoGirl, I wasn’t just launching a business - I was stepping into a new chapter of my life, one shaped by uncertainty, self-doubt, and a deep need for flexibility.
My journey into hypnotherapy began in a moment of transition.
I’d built five businesses before at different times, but this one was different: I was caring for my mum and needed work that could flex around her needs.
It was a friend’s offhand comment -“You have a calming voice; you should do something with it!” - that planted the seed.
I love to understand people at a deep level and have always been fascinated by why people do what they do. The idea of helping others break through their own barriers felt both meaningful and personal.
But, even with all my previous business experience, promoting myself as a hypnotherapist was a whole new challenge. The last time I launched a business was pre-social media as we know it today. I had to relearn everything I knew.
I find the promotion side really hard.
I know what it’s like to freeze up before posting online, to wonder if I was “enough,” and to feel the weight of other people’s opinions.
Every networking event, every first consultation, every time I pressed “publish” on a blog post, I was waiting for someone to make a negative comment.
Those nerves were real. I had to use the very techniques I now teach - mindfulness, self hypnosis, and gentle self-compassion - to move forward.
That’s why HypnoGirl isn’t just about hypnotherapy. It’s about giving business owners and professionals the tools - and the safe space - I wish I’d had when I started.
